Ayodhya Celebrates Diwali with Guinness World Record-Breaking Deepotsav

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh celebrated Diwali with a Guinness World Record-breaking Deepotsav celebration on Saturday. A total of 22.23 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) were lit across 51 ghats in Ayodhya, creating a spectacular sight.

The previous record of 15,76,955 diyas was set in Ayodhya in 2022. This year’s celebration was even more special as the construction work of the Ram temple is in full swing. The much-awaited inauguration of the Ram Mandir is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2024.

In addition to the record-breaking number of diyas, Ayodhya also hosted a grand procession on Saturday.

The procession, which was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Minister of Tourism and Culture Jaiveer Singh, began from the Udaya Square and passed through various parts of the city to reach the Ram Katha Park.

The tableaux were themed on issues such as children’s rights and basic education, women’s safety and welfare, self-reliance, protection of forest and environment, and science and technology. They also showcased different government initiatives.

This year’s Deepotsav celebrations are said to be a sign of Ayodhya’s growing popularity as a pilgrimage and tourism destination.

The city has been receiving a large number of visitors from all over India and the world. The inauguration of the Ram Mandir is expected to further boost tourism in Ayodhya.

The Deepotsav celebrations are also a reminder of Ayodhya’s rich cultural heritage.
