On November 19, 2023, the 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant unfolded at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador, culminating in a historic moment for Nicaragua. Sheynnis Palacios, a 22-year-old model and businesswoman from Managua, emerged victorious, securing Nicaragua’s maiden win in the prestigious pageant.
Palacios, a business administration graduate from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, not only possesses beauty but also a commitment to societal betterment. She is an ardent advocate for women’s empowerment, actively collaborating with various organizations to advance education and entrepreneurship opportunities for women in Nicaragua.
The pageant, featuring contestants from 84 countries and territories, showcased a diverse array of talent and beauty. The first runner-up position was claimed by Engfa Waraha of Thailand, while Andrea Martinez of Venezuela secured the second runner-up spot.
